Pet Airline Travel Tips

Pet Airline Travel TipsThere are many standard rules and regulations that you’ll need to follow, regardless of the airline you and your pet are going to fly. If you are going to travel with your pet, you should adhere to the following steps.

1. Make sure your pet is healthy. Pets must be in good health in order to travel by air. Although not all airlines require you to produce a health certificate, many states and countries may require that you carry one. Take your animal to the vet for a check-up within 30 days of traveling to ensure that you have the appropriate documentation. Remember that all airlines reserve the right to refuse travel to an animal if it appears to be ill, aggressive or violent, or in obvious distress, so make sure that your pet is fit for the journey before you arrive at the airport.

2. Find an airlines that will accommodate your pet. Not all airlines will allow animals on board the plane and/or in the cabin. Check to make sure that your specific animal is allowed on board before booking a ticket.

3. Determine your itinerary. Look into which flights will work with your schedule, but don’t book them yet. You’ll need to ensure that there is space on board for your pet before you book the trip. Otherwise Fluffy will be staying behind.

4. Call the airline to make a reservation for your animal. Once you decide on the flight you’re going to take, call the airline to make a reservation for your pet. All airlines limit the number of animals they allow in each cabin and reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Typically it’s restricted one to two animals in the first class cabin and three to six in the economy cabin. You shouldn’t run into a problem, but it’s important to check before you commit to a flight, especially at peak travel times like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

5. Book your flight. Now that your pet has a reservation confirmed (or you at least know there’s space), it’s time to book your flight. If you’ve already booked your flight and haven’t confirmed your pet, now is the time to call the airline and make that reservation for Fido.

6. Purchase a pet carrier. If you do not already have a pet carrier that conforms to your airline’s size requirements, you’ve got to purchase one. Many airlines sell pet carriers at the airport, but you shouldn’t rely on these being in stock. Check the size regulations your airline enforces and head to the pet store. Your pet must be able to fit “comfortably” in his carrier, which means that he can stand up, lay down and turn around. The carrier should also be leak-proof.

Additionally, here are a few tips to make your flight with you pet a pleasant one:

• Make sure you have the right carrier that appeals to your pet’s comfort and your taste. (remember not to embarrass your pet)
• Place a familiar blanket and/or soft toy in the pet carrier for extra comfort
• Make sure that you allow extra time at the airport to take your pet outside for a rest-stop just before proceeding to the gate
• If your pet gets anxious when traveling, check with your veterinarian for advice
• Bring a leash but do not leave it on your pet when in carrier
• Do not feed your pet the of travel to avoid motion sickness
• If your pet has short fur, make sure that your pet is wearing clothing since aircraft floor can be drafty
• Have small treats available for a light snack en route (very limited amount)
• Make sure you have napkins and a plastic bag in the event of an in-flight mishap (dispose of in lavatory)
• Be discreet since you will not be allowed to remove pet from its carrier to meet-and-greet its many airport fans (people just love pets on planes!)

5 Important, Must-Know Travel Tips For Successful Cheap Travels

Important Travel Tips For Successful Cheap TravelsCheap travels is all about getting the best travel deals around. The following 5 travel tips are a great way to get started on making your vacation dollars stretch farther.

Cheap Travel Tip 1 – Shop Around
You must shop around if you want to be successful in getting the budget travel you want. Shop on the Internet or visit your local travel agents. Different travel websites, and different travel agencies often have access to various specials and sales. So be sure to shop around for these hidden travel deals. Sometimes booking accommodation directly with a hotel may be more costly than booking with a travel agent or online hotel booking agent. So be sure to check out third-party hotel booking agents for more competitive room rates!

Airlines may also offer travel packages (air tickets and accommodation). However, it is best to check the hotels and do a little research. This is because booking the air tickets and accommodation separately may actually save you some previous money. All it takes is a little of your time.

Cheap Travel Tip 2 – Picking The Right Season
Consider traveling during the off-season. The hotels that are overbooked and expensive in the high season are often available at really attractive prices once the high season is over. Off-season travel also offers the advantage of smaller crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Cheap Travel Tip 3 – Group Travel
Many airlines and hotels offer discounts to groups. So if you are traveling with your friends and family, you may be able to save some money.

Cheap Travel Tip 4 – Last-minute Travel
If you have flexible employment, you should take advantage of some fantastic last-minute deals. Cruise lines, airlines and hotels often offer discounts to avoid the expense and lost revenue of an empty cabin, airline seat or hotel bed.

Cheap Travel Tip 5 – Package Travel Deals
For many destinations, especially exotic locations, airfare tends to be expensive. So package travel deals can be significantly less expensive than making your own arrangements. Many travelers also like the safety and security of traveling with a group.

Opting for cheap travels doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice fun, excitement and adventure. There are many opportunities waiting for budget travelers who are willing to put in the time and effort to seek them out.

You can learn how to travel smart, avoid getting scammed, and what to do when things go wrong. Don’t you think its time you learn how to save hundreds, perhaps even thousands, on your next trip or vacation? It’s up to you to make your cheap travel or budget travels happen.

Cheap Air Travel Tips

Cheap Air Travel TipsThe era of airline travel has allowed us to travel the world and connect in ways that have never existed before. We can visit family overseas and travel anywhere in the world within 24 hours. Isn’t that amazing?

With all this ability to travel, we are also faced with the expense of such travel.

For the many who would like to find cheap air travel, we’ve put together the following tips.

The first thing you need to know is that you never need to pay ‘list price’. Airlines have many tiers of pricing, and the same seat can sell for prices differing in the hundreds of dollars, depending on where, when and how it is purchased.

Ask the Professionals: Your first step would be to ask your travel agent for advice on when to purchase airline tickets. He or she will be able to give you some guidance as to which airlines offer discounts and when. For instance, some airlines offer ‘earlybird’ pricing, and some also drop their prices as the trip date gets closer if no one has purchased the seat.

Get a Promotion: If a scheduled flight is full to capacity or overbooked, some airlines will offer complimentary upgrades in seat class to selected passengers. Although this is less common than it used to be, it still happens occasionally. Your best shot at being selected for such an upgrade is to arrive for your flight dressed in a clean-cut, professional manner, and to be polite. You can even try asking at the check-in counter if there is any chance you can get an upgrade – they may offer it to you if such a perk is available, or may offer it at a lesser price than you would have paid when booking. Success will depend on many factors, such as the mood and authority level of the ticket attendant and the way you ask for it. Note that they may also need to move passengers around for weight-and-balance purposes and can offer a better seat to assist in this process – you never get anything if you don’t at least ask!

Also, you can sometimes get a free or discounted flight by being on an ‘overbooked’ flight and being willing to wait until the next one can be arranged for you, but this is not something you have any control over.

Flexibility: Are you flexible in your travel times or dates? By going ’standby’ on an airline, you can hang out and wait until a seat becomes free or someone cancels, and can often get cheaper last-minute tickets.

‘Pre-owned’ Tickets: For an array of reasons, people buy tickets and their plans change. When those tickets are non-refundable, they may try and sell them to receive at least some of their money back. This is good news for you, as you can take advantage of some discounted prices (remember, if they don’t sell their tickets they get nothing, so anything they can recover is of help to them). On-sale airline tickets can be found many places.
